The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission recalled the Miniverse Make It Mini Sets with unused liquid resins on Tuesday. The popular children's toy, of which 21 million have been sold in the U.S., comes in a sphere ball that holds mini food and appliance collectibles.
The decision was due to the resin in the product, which can cause skin, eye, and respiratory irritation or sensitization if inhaled, touched, or ingested by people.
In the spring of 1963, in Birmingham, Ala., it seemed like progress was finally being made on civil rights. The notoriously violent segregationist police commissioner “Bull” Connor had lost his run-off bid for mayor, and despite Martin Luther King Jr.’s declaration that the city was the most segregated in the nation, protests were starting to be met with quiet resignation rather than uproar.
At least that’s what TIME thought: in the April 19 issue of that year, under the headline “Poorly Timed Protest,” the magazine cast King as an outsider who did not consult the city’s local activists and leaders before making demands that set back Birmingham’s progress and drew Bull Connor’s ire.
A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Rahman Owokoniran, has denied rumours claiming that he is planning to join the Lagos State governorship race in 2023. In a statement he personally signed on Tuesday, Owokoniran said his immediate focus is to work for unity and the stability of the party in the state and in the South West region.
The PDP General Secretary Southwest Zone said a united party would ensure that Nigerians are delivered from bad governance and the anti-people policies inflicted on them by the All Progressives Congress (APC) governments at all levels.
